Danny Garcia marked his return to the ring with a comfortable victory over Ivan Redkach York on Saturday night, accusing his opponent of biting him in the eighth round and whispering 'Mike Tyson' in his ear.

Former world champion Garcia cruised to an unanimous decision win despite Redkach showing some real bite late on, appearing to sink his teeth into his opponent’s shoulder during a clinch.

Garcia immediately complained to the referee but saw out the remainder of the contest untroubled.

"He bit me," Garcia said after the win. "He said 'Mike Tyson' when he bit me. I said, 'Ref, he bit me.' I thought I needed stitches or something.

"That's my first time ever getting bit in a fight."

Mike Tyson was at the centre of one of boxing's most shocking moments in 1997 when he twice bit opponent Evander Holyfield, taking off part of his ear and spitting it out on the ring floor.

Last March, British heavyweight David Price was left with teeth marks across his torso after opponent Kash Ali repeatedly bit the Liverpudlian before earning himself a fifth round disqualification.
