Burton: Promotion is our top priority

Terry Burton maintains Wimbledon must not let their FA Cup exploits distract them from the main focus of winning promotion back to the Premiership.

Should they beat Wycombe tonight they will get the chance to test themselves against top flight side Leicester City.

But Burton made it clear: "There are 17 games to go, so there are enough points for us to still get up. We must win most of our games which is a tough task, but the points are there so it is possible to get to the play-offs. There are a lot of games in the First Division and we've played a lot of cup ties too, but players like to play.

"It would be a good situation if we were playing two matches a week right the way through to the end of the season because it would mean we had been successful - we'd relish that prospect.

"After relegation last term, this season was always going be a transitional period. It is difficult to bounce back, especially if you have just sold over half you team."
