Cardiff will be on the up again

Paul Jacobs13 April 2012

With the new football season just two weeks away it is time to tie up our divisional wagers.

So far we have invested on Hull City plus Rushden and Diamonds in Division Three and Watford (at 7-1, now 11-2!) in Division One. But the most fascinating championship battle will come in Division Two.

Although Cardiff City have only just been promoted they are one of the few clubs in this division with plenty of money.

The Bluebirds made one of the best signings of the summer in getting Graham Kavanagh from Stoke City.

He will create many chances for strikers Robert Earnshaw and Leo Fortune-West.

Add the signing of Spencer Prior from Manchester City and several other useful allround players and you have a strong team.

Take the 5-2 (Tote) for Cardiff to gain promotion and have a small flutter each-way on them for the championship at 9-1 with Ladbrokes.

Notts County (14-1, Ladbrokes) are worth a second-bet to take the title. They have signed Darren Caskey from Reading and he should help Mark Stallard improve on his 17 League goals last season.

Blackpool came up into Division Two via the play-offs and look the best-value outsiders.

The Senior British Open Golf Championship begins at Royal County Down today.

Noel Ratcliffe (16-1) continues to collect the main prizes on the European Seniors Tour and this course is made for him.

Back him alongside former Royal Liverpool pro John Morgan. He relishes this kind of links golf and 33-1 is more than a fair price.
