Chalk out after jaw op

12 April 2012

Celtic Crusaders have ruled out utility player Marshall Chalk for at least two months with a broken jaw.

The 28-year-old former Canberra Raiders player suffered the break in Sunday's 34-22 defeat by Castleford and underwent surgery on Wednesday.

Chalk, who has played at full-back and in the back row, has been told he will not be back until the start of July at the earliest.

The injury is the latest is a series of blows for the Crusaders, who go into Sunday's game against Huddersfield in Edinburgh still looking for their first Super League win.

Second-rower Adam Peek will also miss the trip to Murrayfield after injuring his shoulder while scoring a try on Sunday, but Mark Lennon and Matty Smith are both close to returning from lengthy lay-offs.
