Childhood problems make Rosicky a doubt for Gunners

13 April 2012

Arsenal could be boosted by the availability of Tomas Rosicky for the visit of managerless Bolton to come this weekend, should the Czech midfielder come through the game against Germany unscathed.

However, his national federation have warned the winger, who has seen his progress hampered by a run of niggling injuries, needs to be handled very carefully.

Doubtful: Tomas Rosicky has struggled with niggling injuries but he could be fit for the weekend

Czech Republic doctor Pavel Kolar said: "Tomas has an imbalance of his muscle structure.

"In my opinion, this plays a big role in his injuries. Some of his muscles work more and are more developed whereas others are not.

"The problem is in the co-ordination of muscles which Tomas uses. Muscles on the rear side of his thigh are enormously strained, it is a matter from his childhood."

Veteran goalkeeper Jens Lehmann is vying for a return to first-team action after proving his fitness from an elbow problem with German during the international break.

But it remains to be seen whether Wenger will stick instead with Manuel Almunia, who has conceded just four goals in nine appearances.
