Come on, Andy, we can make it a great weekend

David Haye today sent his best wishes to his close friend Andy Murray and predicted both will be victorious this weekend.

The 30-year-old Londoner was due to weigh in at a Hamburg shopping centre this lunchtime for his world heavyweight title fight with Wladimir Klitschko tomorrow night.

But he took time out to urge Murray to victory over Rafael Nadal in his semi-final at Wimbledon which takes place later today and believes he can then become the first British man to win a Grand Slam singles title since Fred Perry in 1936.

Writing in his exclusive big-fight diary in Standard Sport, Haye said: "I'd also like to send one last good luck message to my friend Andy Murray.

"Hopefully, our victories this weekend, his at Wimbledon and mine in Hamburg, will complete a memorable double for British sport."

Haye will also show his patriotism tomorrow night when he wears the new England football navy blue away shirt into the ring before his fight at the Imtech Arena. Haye said: "It's an honour to represent my country away from home and, as a football fan, the opportunity to launch the England away shirt is a huge privilege.

"I've had several messages of support from the England camp, including Fabio Capello, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand, so I'm determined to put in a strong performance and bring the world title belts back to England.

"Like many English sportsmen and women, I've faced opposing fans when I've fought abroad before and tomorrow night being in Germany will be nothing new for me. And I know that the support back home is immense."

Haye's entourage will also be sporting blue by wearing light blue Umbro anthem jackets as they walk to the ring. The colour is, of course, more readily associated with the country of Murray's birth, Scotland.

But England have used variations of blue in their kit since 1930. The inspiration for the new design, which will be on sale from August 10, was also taken from the blue caps given to England players, as well as the original British passports, which were navy in colour.
