Alastair Cook wants action but not a strike

10 April 2012

Alastair Cook insists that England players won't go on strike over cricket's packed programme but said the international schedule needs to be looked at.

Players in both Test and one-day squads had just three days at home from the start of the Ashes until their World Cup exit last month.

At the weekend the vice-captain was quoted as saying: "We can go on strike, which is not recommended."

Cook has now clarified this comments and said: "I didn't mean to use the word strike. There's nothing further from our minds as a team . . . but something has to change if we want to keep producing our best."
