Dawid Malan was delighted after his century against Surrey kept up Middlesex's perfect start to the Vitality Blast.

Captain Malan smashed 117 from 57 balls to underpin Middlesex’s 209 for three, which their bowlers defended with some comfort in a 37-run win.

Malan said: “It was one of those days for me, when every time I hit the ball it seemed to go over a fielder.

“It worked for me and I managed to change a game and as a top-order batsman that is what you want to do.”

Middlesex are looking to qualify for Finals Day for the first time since 2008.

“We have worked hard on areas where we have struggled in the past like the power-play and we are putting things into place,” said Malan.

“There are always ways we can improve but we are pleased with how things have gone so far.”
