England Lions took control of their four-day game against South Africa in Canterbury with both Ben Duckett and Harry Brook hitting centuries.

Yorkshire batter Brook made 140 from 170 balls and Nottinghamshire’s Duckett 145 from 168 deliveries as the Lions reached 672 all out - a first-innings lead of 239.

The pair were well supported by skipper Sam Billings, who - playing on his home ground - struck 92 from 96 balls and shared a fifth-wicket partnership of 151 with Duckett.

Will Jacks (34) and Craig Overton (42 not out) provided late cameos as the South Africans’ time in the field extended to 117 overs.

The tourists were soon in trouble with the bat as Ollie Robinson boosted his hopes of an England Test recall by removing openers Dean Elgar and Sarel Erwee.

Overton had Keegan Petersen lbw and South Africa ended the third day on 59 for three, still trailing by 180 with seven wickets remaining.
