India go easy on tired team

Strange move: Tendulkar and his side were granted an optional net session ahead of The Fourth Test
10 April 2012

India's players were granted an optional net session ahead of The Fourth Test despite being 3-0 down in the series against England.

This is India's seventh Test in two months and they have looked drained in this series, yet it was still a strange gesture given they have been second best all summer. Virtually all India's players attended the session, which was put back by half an hour.

For England, Jimmy Anderson faces a fitness test on his thigh problem tomorrow that will determine whether he is able to play at The Oval 24 hours later.

Durham seam bowler Graham Onions returned to the squad for the first time since January 2010 as cover for Anderson.
