Tillakaratne Dilshan tames Aussies to set up series final

Sri Lanka levelled the best-of-three Commonwealth Bank final against Australia with a blistering batting display in Adelaide today.

Set 272 to take the one-day series into Thursday’s decider, Sri Lanka reached their target with eight wickets and 34 balls to spare. Mahela Jayawardene and Tillakaratne Dilshan got them off to a flying start with a stand of 179 in 27 overs and Dilshan went on to score 106.

Australia’s batsmen were also in prime form, with captain Michael Clarke and David Warner scoring centuries in their total of 271 for six.

Warner followed his record 163 in Sunday’s first final with exactly 100 and Clarke smashed 117 as the pair added 184 for the third wicket. Lasith Malinga was Sri Lanka’s stand-out bowler with three for 40 in 10 overs.
