Not long ago, it looked for all the world that the First Division promotion race was a two-horse affair. Then Watford inexplicably stumbled and now, after four successive league defeats, they have been caught and overtaken by Birmingham and West Brom. If it goes on for much longer they'll be renaming the local station Calamity Junction while, in contrast, Crystal Palace, after a disastrous start, now seem to have it all together. Watford have Peter Kennedy back in contention after eight months out with Achilles tendon injuries. He played 45 minutes for the reserves in their midweek win over Arsenal. Palace midfielder Simon Rodger is confident he has shaken off a hamstring injury while Hayden Mullins is finally ready to sign his new four-year contract with the club.
