Bounce back: Julian Speroni
Giuseppe Muro20 October 2014

Julian Speroni expects to see a response from Crystal Palace after back-to-back Premier League defeats.

Palace were beaten 2-1 by Chelsea at Selhurst Park on Saturday and Speroni expects a show of character when Neil Warnock’s side travel to West Brom this weekend.

“After two defeats in a row, it is so important to bounce back,” said the goalkeeper. “We need to show the character of the team and we will see this weekend how we respond. I am not talking about the result, because we may go there and end up losing the game, but I am talking about putting in a good performance.

“We are disappointed with the result against Chelsea but they are a good side and the way they keep the ball is hard to play against. I know the character we have in the dressing room but we have to show that now.”

Meanwhile, Warnock has praised Wilfried Zaha’s attitude since returning to Palace on loan from Manchester United. The winger has found opportunities limited under Warnock but he impressed when he came off the bench against Chelsea.

“Wilfried knows what I think about him and what I am going to do with him,” said Warnock. “His discipline has got a lot better. He is learning when to do his tricks and, in the right areas, he is as good as anybody.

“He has got to learn one or two things but he has been working really hard. His attitude is spot on for me, people question that but it has been super for me.”

Warnock added: “It will be between Chelsea and Manchester City for the title, so that makes it better for me because we could have got a result if things went our way. You can’t take anything away from our lot because we played some good stuff.”
