Tom Daley and Max Brick have won the gold medal in the 10metre synchro at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

The English duo, who were performing in front of 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe at the Dr SP Mukherjee Aquatics Complex, took the title ahead of Australia with Canada third and Malaysia last in a four-team final.

The pair moved into the lead following their second dive and entered the final round 11.52points ahead of Australia in a straight fight between the two. The Australians produced a well-executed, intricate effort on their last attempt but it was not enough to dislodge the English pair.

Brick and Daley enjoyed a solid final dive to end with 439.65 to beat the Australians by 15.84pts.

Daley told Five Live: "It was a very tough event but we have been putting a lot of work in.

"We did one of the hardest dives in our list but we pulled it off and we got a massive personal best as well.

"We wanted to come here and do well and to get the gold was the icing on the cake.

"It would be amazing if I could win everything but to win here at the Commonwealth Games means a lot to me.

"I am very happy that a lot of the hard work has paid off.

"It's been a tough year with injuries and I've had so much physio that for it to pay off here is fantastic."
