Triple-Gold Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey says mothers do not get “nearly enough credit” for the amount of work involved balancing careers and personal lives.

The road and track racing cyclist, who became Britain’s most successful female Paralympic athlete at Rio, said it’s especially hard for modern parents “expected to do everything all the time”.

Dame Sarah, 38, born without a left hand, won two golds in Rio’s Velodrome and a third in the C4-5 road race, bringing her total medal tally to 14.

In an interview with HELLO! Magazine the mother-of-one, below, who gave birth to daughter Louisa a year after London 2012, opened up about being a “team” with husband Barney.

She revealed he “does the lion’s share of the childcare” while she trains, but said: “I’m an athlete mum. But most mums are athletes and they don’t realise. We are all athletes in different ways.”
