Defender Thatcher set to leave Charlton after contract talks stall

Ben Thatcher is set to quit Charlton after talks about a new contract stalled.


The 32-year-old left-back is thought to be unhappy at being offered reduced terms following Charlton's failure to return to the Premier League and club officials do not expect him to stay.

Thatcher  joined Charlton from  Manchester City  in January 2007 for a fee of £500,000.

Boss Alan Pardew is weighing up a £500,000 move for out-of-favour Sunderland defender Greg Halford, 23, who spent the end of last season on loan at Charlton.
