Delgado gets Davis Cup call

Chris Jones13 April 2012

Great Britain Davis Cup captain Roger Taylor has recalled Jamie Delgado to his team for the World Group first-round clash with Sweden in Birmingham from 8-10 February.

Delgado joins Tim Henman, Greg Rusedski and Martin Lee in the squad to face a Swedish team containing Australian Open champion Thomas Johansson, Thomas Enqvist, Jonas Bjorkman and Magnus Larsson.

Henman and Rusedski, the architects in last year's 4-1 win in Ecuador, will again head Britain's challenge.

Lee is included after winning singles rubbers in the last two ties.

Taylor said: "It's encouraging to see Martin now just two places off the top 100. Jamie was close to a call-up for the Ecuador tie and he deserves this chance."

Meanwhile, Rusedski moved into the quarterfinals of the Milan Indoor tournament today with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Czech Bohdan Ulihrach.

He faces either Sjeng Schalken of Holland or Brazilian Andre Sa.
