Donny take Wright

12 April 2012

Sheffield United defender Alan Wright has joined League One club Doncaster on a month's loan.

Wright will provide cover for Gareth Roberts, who has been sidelined for at least four weeks after tearing a hamstring in Monday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Crewe.

The diminutive full-back, 35, has made over 500 appearances for a host of clubs including Blackburn, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough. Wright has been on loan at Leeds and Cardiff this season.

United boss Neil Warnock said: "I'm pleased to be able to help Doncaster, who have an exciting run-in.

"Alan did well at Cardiff, and I'm sure he'll be an asset for our south Yorkshire neighbours."

Warnock allowed two other moves that saw midfielder Nicky Law moving to League One promotion-chasers Yeovil, while 18-year-old reserve midfielder Floyd Kerry has joined the Football League's basement club Torquay.
