Duo set for City return

12 April 2012

Daniel Sturridge and Benjani Mwaruwari could return for Manchester City at Arsenal on Saturday, with Michael Johnson and Martin Petrov not far behind them to give the Blues a timely lift.

City are aiming at the twin targets of a top-seven berth and the UEFA Cup, where they tackle Hamburg in a quarter-final on Thursday, and manager Mark Hughes knows he needs as many of his squad available as possible.

"Daniel and Benjani are at about the same level and they are just ahead of Martin and Michael," Hughes told Key 103.

"They are all coming back at the right time for us. They will introduce an energy and enthusiasm to the squad

"We have a number of players coming back now who are itching to get into the side and that can only be a good thing for us."

However, Hughes does have fitness worries, with Vincent Kompany, Shay Given, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Valeri Bojinov all reported to have developed problems with their various international sides.

It raises an element of doubt for City ahead of Saturday's trip to Arsenal, where they will be looking to register their first Premier League away win since August.
