'Energised' Hamilton is raring to go

13 April 2012

Lewis Hamilton insists he is feeling "energised" ahead of the new Formula One season despite McLaren failing to set the pace in testing.

The reigning champion says he feels relaxed ahead of Sunday's Australian Grand Prix, insisting that his winter training regime has made him stronger - physically and mentally - than he has felt before.

"I feel energised going into this new season," said the British driver. "I had a good period off with no training, just enjoying eating good food, and sleeping well.

"I'm also happy where I'm living in Geneva, and I get to spend time with my family. Things are balanced."

Hamilton insists money is far from a motivating factor for him.

"My goal was never to earn money; my goal was to be world champion because I love racing," he said. "I'm pretty sure any driver will tell you they would have done it for free."
