Dina Asher-Smith and Laura Muir have set their sights on conquering the world after a golden European Championships.

Asher-Smith was the star of the Games, winning treble gold as Muir clinched her first outdoor major title in dominating Sunday’s 1500metres.

After a golden final night in Berlin, which put Britain at the top of the medal table, Muir, 25, said: “I’m so happy to have delivered as I missed out on the medals the past few years to I’m so pleased to finally get gold. It’s shown I can deliver under a lot of pressure. Now it’s the World Championships and Olympics.”

Asher-Smith, 22, again produced a stunning run on the anchor leg of the 4x100m to turn a fourth place into her third gold.

She said: “I’m happy but it’s all about moving to Tokyo [the 2020 Olympics] but you’ve got to use it and push yourself onto a platform for Doha [Worlds] and Tokyo and beyond. While it’s great for me, this year it doesn’t forecast how the next two years are going to go.”
