England won two Commonwealth Games gold medals today as the men's 4x100metres relay team emulated the success of the women.

While the women streaked home in their race, Mark Lewis-Francis was forced to overcome a 15m deficit as England overhauled Jamaica on the last leg to win gold.

A jubilant Lewis-Francis said: "That's what it's all about. Two years of hard work getting back on the track and I'm over the moon right about now."

The men's four of Ryan Scott, Leon Baptiste, Marlon Devonish and Lewis-Francis won in 38.74sec from Jamaica, while India clinched bronze.

Earlier, the women's quartet of Katherine Endacott, Montell Douglas, Laura Turner and Abi Oyepitan clocked 44.19sec to win gold in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.
