Fabio wants Lampard to stay a Blue

Tough job: England coach Fabio Capello

Fabio Capello has urged Frank Lampard to reject Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan and stay with Chelsea.

The England midfielder's future at Stamford Bridge is still uncertain following his failure to agree a contract extension, although he will almost certainly start the season with the Blues.

Lampard has grown frustrated with Chelsea's unwillingness to meet his demands and a move to Italy where he will link up with former Chelsea boss Mourinho is a possibility.

But Capello wants Lampard to stay in the Premier League.

He said: "As England coach I would prefer it if Lampard remained in England. He would have less travelling to do that way."

The Italian also says he has one of the toughest jobs in international football management because of the lack of home-grown players at the top level.

He said: "I have Welsh players, Scottish, Irish. In the Premier League only 35 per cent of the players are English. In Italy it's about 72 per cent Italians."
