FIA assembly to vote on Mosley's future

12 April 2012

Max Mosley's future as president of the FIA is to be decided via a secret ballot in eight weeks' time.

The FIA Senate have unanimously agreed to a hearing of the Extraordinary General Assembly that will take place in Paris on June 3.

Following recent lurid allegations regarding Mosley, there will be a vote of confidence as to whether he will remain in office.

So far, Mosley has belligerently refused to stand down in the wake of the scandal that has engulfed him following stories published in a Sunday newspaper.

Despite calls for his resignation from a number of motor sport personalities and many motoring associations across the world, Mosley is prepared to take his chances on the Assembly vote.

The Assembly comprises 222 national motoring organisations in 130 countries, and it is in their hands Mosley's fate now rests.

A FIA statement read: "The FIA can confirm that the members of the Senate have unanimously approved the proposal of the President of the FIA, that further to the recent press coverage relating to his private life, an Extraordinary General Assembly should be convened.

"The meeting will be held on June 3, 2008, in Paris. The General Assembly will include a vote of confidence by secret ballot."
