Flintoff out of fourth Test

12 April 2012

England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff has been ruled out of the fourth Test against the West Indies in Barbados.

Flintoff, 31, underwent a scan on his injured right hip on Friday and the results showed a muscle strain.

He will be reassessed over the coming days in the hope that he will be fit for the final Test in Trinidad and the one-day series which follows.

The Lancashire star was clearly struggling during the third Test in Antigua, which ended in a disappointing draw for England on Thursday, but still sent down 17 overs in West Indies' second innings.

Seamer Amjad Khan and all-rounder Ravi Bopara have been called up to the senior squad as cover and could play in the two-day warm-up match, which begins in Barbados on Sunday.
