Alan Pardew's Ox talk cheers Campbell

25 October 2012

Newcastle teenager Adam Campbell is flattered by comparisons with Alex Oxlade‑Chamberlain.

The 17-year-old forward has played only 13 minutes for the first team, which came in a Europa League tie in August, but manager Alan Pardew already thinks he has the potential to emulate the Arsenal midfielder.

Pardew (above) is considering using Campbell against Club Brugge at St James’ Park tonight and the player hopes he does not let the manager down. Campbell said: “With me it is great that I have got a gaffer who has so much faith in me.

“He’s given me a chance and not a lot of clubs give you that. I owe the gaffer an awful lot.

“It was a great comparison [with Oxlade‑Chamberlain].

“He is setting the League alight at the moment. But I’m aiming for the first-team and nothing more at the minute. You always dream of playing for Newcastle.”
