Anti-racism organisation Kick It Out to hold open debate on football's issues

25 October 2012

Following the recent furor surrounding racism in football, Kick It Out will be hosting an open debate in London to discuss the issue.

Kick It Out chair Lord Herman Ouseley and former Chelsea captain Paul Elliot will be joining London England Fans for a talk entitled “2011-2012 – The Season Anti-Racism in Football Went Backwards?”.

Running from 6.30-9pm tomorrow at The Queens Head pub in Piccadilly, the event is free and will see topics such as the resignation of Fabio Capello, the BBC Panorama documentary released ahead of Euro 2012, the use of Twitter by England internationals, and recent high-profile incidents within the game all brought under the spotlight.

The campaign to rid English football of racism hit the headlines earlier this month as high-profile Premier League players revealed their decision to boycott Kick It Out shirts in an attempt to highlight what they see as the organisation's failure to address the real issues in the game.

The debate will be held upstairs at the Queens Head, 15 Denman Street, London W1D 7HN (nearest tube is Piccadilly Circus).
