Antonio Conte's priceless reaction to Diego Costa 'criminal' claims

Standard Sport18 August 2017

Diego Costa's future may be no laughing matter for the striker himself, but Chelsea coach Antonio Conte managed to see the funny side of the saga on Friday.

Costa has been AWOL in Brazil for the last month as he tries to push through a return to Atletico Madrid, with the striker claiming that the Premier League champions have treated him "like a criminal" during their transfer dispute.

Costa claims Conte first told him he wasn’t wanted in June via text message, but the Chelsea coach says the player was told in January that the club would sell in the summer.

The Spain international has now travelled to Madrid to put pressure on Chelsea to sell to the La Liga club for a certain price.

Despite Conte being under pressure of late ahead of a tough trip to London rivals Tottenham on Sunday, the Italian coach could not help himself as he was asked about Costa's claims in Friday's pre-match press conference - a reaction that is not going to go down well with the striker.
