Arsene Wenger has confirmed Mesut Ozil will miss 'two or three games' after sustaining a shoulder problem.

Ozil was was not named in the Arsenal squad as they travelled to Newcastle on Sunday and the 25-year-old is expected to miss the visit of Cardiff on New Year's Day.

But Wenger will be sweating on the fitness of his German playmaker ahead of the Gunners' FA Cup clash with bitter north London rivals Tottenham on January 4.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal's match at St James' Park, the 64-year-old told Sky Sports: "I would have loved him [Ozil] here but he has a shoulder problem, after falling on his shoulder.

"He will be out for two to three games. We have a good squad and now's the time to show it."
