Ian Wright believes that Arsenal will be glad to escape the pressure of the Emirates crowd when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners endured a disastrous start to the Premier League season as goals from Cheikh Kouyate and Mauro Zarate helped West Ham secure a shock 2-0 victory against Arsene Wenger's side last weekend.

Petr Cech's arrival from Chelsea has been hailed as a factor that could help Arsenal win the title for the first time in a decade, but the goalkeeper was at fault for both of the Hammers' goals.

The Arsenal faithful became frustrated as they watched their side struggle to force their way back into the encounter with Slaven Bilic's men and Wright is adamant an opportunity to play away from home will aid the north Londoners.

"The only positive I can think about this fixture from Arsenal's point of view is that they are away from home," Wright told the BBC.

"This way they escape the pressure of the home crowd at Emirates Stadium, and the sighs and the tuts they get when players misplace passes or when things are not going well.

"The away supporters are much more tolerant and that is what the Gunners players need at the moment while they look to put things right," he added.

The Eagles, meanwhile, enjoyed a positive start to their campaign after a 3-1 victory against newly promoted Norwich City at Carrow Road as new signing Yohan Cabaye completed the scoring late on.
