Arsene Wenger offered a relatively optimistic assessment of the injuries suffered by Nacho Monreal and Petr Cech in Arsenal’s 5-1 win over Everton.

For the second home league game in a row, Monreal was forced off early into the game, substituted at half-time to be replaced by Sead Kolasinac.

The Spanish full-back, however, had only being suffering with illness and as such is expected to be in contention for the visit to Wembley to face Tottenham next Saturday.

Cech was also forced off before full-time, being replaced by David Ospina moments after he had conceded the header that denied him a 200th Premier League clean sheet.

Wenger said of Cech: "He has a kick on his calf.

"I don’t know medically how bad it is. Just a kick."

The Arsenal goalkeeper’s injury came from a collision with Oumar Niasse in the 52nd minute that saw the Everton striker hit the post with a low shot.
