Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hints at Arsenal contract announcement with latest Twitter tease

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's long-running contract saga could be drawing to a close, with the Arsenal captain looking like he is going to be staying in north London.

Aubameyang's future has been the subject of fervent speculation in recent months, with his current contract expiring in summer 2021.

Arsenal had risked losing the Gabon international for nothing next summer instead of cashing in on the striker, but the 31-year-old is set to put pen to paper on a three-year, £250,000-a-week contract extension.

On August 16, Aubameyang sent out a cryptic tweet of an egg-timer with the majority of the sand in the top half, indicating whatever announcement he was planning would take time.

But on September 15, Aubameyang followed that up with another egg-timer - though this time, the sand has nearly run out.

Emojis are not necessarily something to base multi-million-pound deals on just yet, but Fabrizio Romano is confident of a deal, writing: "#AubaSigns and he has turned down two bids to stay".
