Arsenal suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season as they were beaten 3-1 by Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Gunners were unlucky to lose as they dominated large parts of the game, but couldn’t make their chances count.

Instead, United punished them on three occasions as new signing Antony scored and Marcus Rashford bagged a brace.

Bukayo Saka did get on the scoresheet for Arsenal, who stay top of the Premier League despite losing, but it wasn’t enough.

Aaron Ramsdale 6

Was typically adventurous playing out from the back and was good, bar one loose pass. Almost kept out Rashford’s first goal when he came out to close the angle.

Ben White 6

A solid performance from the right-back. Had a spell at the start of the second half where he was getting forward with some joy.

William Saliba 7

Probably Arsenal’s best defender on the day and he showed the most composure out of the back four. Did get caught by Rashford for his first goal.

Gabriel 6

Will be frustrated about the first goal as he tried and failed to bring down Bruno Fernandes. Did redeem himself with a few big tackles after that.

Oleksandr Zinchenko 6

Not quite at the level he usually is and was caught out for the first goal as he tucked in a bit too much. Fairly bright going forward on occasion.

Martin Odegaard 7

Probably one of Arsenal’s best players and unlucky to be on the losing team. A couple of his passes were great, including the one that found Jesus for the goal.

Albert Sambi Lokonga 6

Tough afternoon for the Belgian, who actually didn’t do too badly for large parts of the game. Punished for the second goal, though, when he gave the ball away.

Granit Xhaka 7

Another player who also had a decent game, despite the loss. Either side of half-time he created good chances that went begging across the box.

Bukayo Saka 7

Opened his account for the season with a goal and almost had an assist too, but Maritnelli’s goal was ruled out for a foul in the build-up.

Gabriel Jesus 7

Gave Arsenal a focal point up top and looked sharp from the very first minute. Jinked past United defenders on a few occasions and was involved in the goal.

Gabriel Martinelli 7

Unlucky to have his goal disallowed after taking it really well with his weak foot. Caused Diogo Dalot countless problems by running at him, particularly in the first half.

Subs

Eddie Nketiah (Zinchenko 74’) 5

As he has with all his cameos this season, the striker came on and looked fairly dangerous.

Emile Smith Rowe (Odegaard 73’) 5

Barely had any minutes this season but got a run here. Played as a No8 and had some okay touches.

Fabio Vieira (Lokonga 73’) 5

Didn’t have long to make an impact. Volleyed an effort from outside the box wide.

Takehiro Tomiyasu (White 80’) N/A

Subs not used: Turner, Holding, Tierney, Cedric, Marquinhos
