Arsenal star Henrikh Mkhitaryan adds to Unai Emery's injury troubles ahead of clash with Everton

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has added to Unai Emery’s injury headache ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League game against Everton on Sunday.

The Armenian midfielder played the full 90 minutes in the Gunners’ 4-2 Europa League win over Vorskla Poltava but damaged his right ankle and will need to be assessed over the coming days.

Mkhitaryan may not have started against Everton, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang appear to be Emery’s favoured three to play off Alexandre Lacazette, but the Armenian has made a strong start to his first full season at Arsenal.

Emery could be without as many as six first-teamers for the visit of Everton, with Lucas Torreira another doubt having finished Thursday’s win with an ice pack on his knee following robust treatment from Ukrainian opponents.

Left-back options Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are not expected to be available until next month, adding to the strain on Nacho Monreal, whilst Laurent Koscielny will not return to full training until November as he recovers from an Achilles injury.
