Steve Bruce is keen to sign Arsenal’s Isaac Hayden on a permanent deal.

The 20-year-old made his first start in the Championship since September in Hull City’s 6-0 rout of struggling Charlton Athletic.

Hayden grabbed the final goal with a deflected strike to ensure Jose Riga’s second spell as Charlton boss got off to an inauspicious start.

Although Hayden has made just sixteen appearances for the Tigers since departing the Emirates on loan the England youth international has made a big impression on Bruce, who has tutored the likes of Nicklas Bendtner and Chuba Akpom for Arsene Wenger.

“I've already been on to Arsenal because I'd love to make [the loan] permanent if I could," Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail.

“I'd make it permanent tomorrow if that was possible. I desperately want to hang on to him. In an ideal world he'd want to be playing every week but he's started last weekend and again.

“He's a very good young player, who's progressing all the time.”
