Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta explains why he will not use regular BT Sport coverage to watch Man City clash

Mikel Arteta will use a “special feed” to watch Arsenal take on Manchester City.

Arteta is unable to be at Emirates Stadium for the match on New Year’s Day after testing positive for Covid-19 earlier this week.

The Spaniard will have to instead watch the game from home, but he will not be using the regular broadcast feed shown by BT Sport.

Arteta will instead be using the feed Arsenal use to analyse games, which gives him a bird eye’s view of the action.

“I will have a special feed and like I normally watch all the games that we analyse,” said Arteta.

“Yes [it is a different camera angle to the one on television]. Hopefully we can use that one and give us a proper view.

“I will be myself fully focused in one room.”

Arteta has confessed it will be a “strange” experience watching on from home, but he has backed his staff to step up without him.

Assistant Albert Stuivenberg is due to lead the team from the dugout, with Arsenal unsure what other coaches will be able to attend.

“Albert and the other coaches when they are around will have complete freedom to do what they want to do and what they feel is right to do,” said Arteta.

“I already discussed that with them and it will be down to them. The players are the  ones who have to coach themselves. That is the best way.”
