Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has revealed Arsene Wenger’s belief was crucial in helping the Welshman rediscover his best form.

The 23-year-old moved to Emirates Stadium for £10million in 2007 but struggled to recover from a career-threatening injury sustained at Stoke City three years later, sparking suggestion he may never fulfill his potential.

But with the help of his manager’s unwavering confidence, Ramsey shrugged off the criticism which has tarnished recent campaigns.

And the Wales international – who has scored 13 goals this season – is this season experiencing the fruits of his determination to return to the top of his game.

Speaking during a live Q&A on Facebook, Ramsey said: “You don't read too much into what is said as long as you have belief in yourself and the manager has the belief in you.”

Ramsey also revealed he expects a European team to win the World Cup in Brazil later this year, tipping his Arsenal team-mates Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lucas Podolski to be among those challenging for the trophy.

“I think probably Spain or Germany,” he said, before suggesting Belgium have an outside chance.
