Arsene Wenger is reluctant to deal in the mid-season window but has suggested he may swoop for defensive midfield cover.

The Gunners have been hit by an injury crisis once more this term, but their lofty position - just two points off the summit - has prompted a wave of optimism in north London.

As such, it is more crucial than ever that Wenger looks to add depth in January and Wenger's assertion that Arsenal are 'short' suggests he has a few transfer targets in mind. Francis Coquelin is not anticipated to return until Ferbuary and, despite the success of Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey's makeshift pairing, Wenger will be keen to enter the market.
