Bacary Sagna believes Manchester City are still favourites to win the Premier League title this season, despite trailing leaders Leicester by six points.

The Foxes secured a crucial 3-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, which saw Manuel Pellegrini's side drop to fourth place in the table.

The Citizens have not beaten any side in the top six this season but Sagna is confident he and his teammates can overturn the deficit to be crowned champions for the third time in their history.

"We are a top team and, to me, we are the best team in the league," the French full-back told Sky Sports.

"We are still on top and, while we are six points behind Leicester, we are not far away. If we win every single game we can make it happen."

Although City are also behind both Spurs and Arsenal in the pecking order, Sagna is adamant the belief in City's squad will help them to overcome their rivals.

"I am not worried to be honest, I know we are going to get ready and we're going to make it happen."

"We know we can do it, we know we have the quality to do it."

City host Spurs this weekend and victory over Mauricio Pochettino's would help City force their way back into the title picture ahead of the run-in.

However, Sagna has admitted City cannot afford to drop points as they have done in recent weeks if they are to achieve their aim.

"It is essential we beat Tottenham like it will be essential we beat other teams in the future. We cannot afford to drop points as we have," said Sagna.

"It's a massive game because we want to stay in contact with the top teams, we are part of the top teams, we are still involved in four competitions, and we want to go and get the title at the end of the season."
