Ansu Fati’s sensational start to life in the Barcelona first team continued on Saturday night as he scored and assisted within the opening seven minutes against Valencia at Camp Nou.

The 16-year-old attacker, who plays for the Juvenil A side and has not even appeared for Barca B yet, made his debut for the Catalan club as a substitute in the 5-2 win over Real Betis last month.

He then came off the bench for the second half away to Osasuna and scored within minutes of his introduction in the 2-2 draw at El Sadar.

And with Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele still out, he was rewarded with a start against Valencia on Saturday.

The youngster quickly made his mark, firing home from close to the penalty spot to open the scoring with a clinical finish from Frankie de Jong’s cross from the right after just two minutes.

He then returned the favour, cutting in from the left after seven minutes, leaving Ezequiel Garay in his wake and sending a pass back for De Jong to smash into the empty net.

That meant the youngster had two goals and an assist to his name in just over an hour on the pitch for Barcelona in total. At 16 years old. A star is born.
