Ben-Haim’s West Ham move back on

Tal Ben Haim's move to West Ham could still be on

Tal Ben-Haim could still be on his way to West Ham, despite failing a medical.

The defender is now in negotiations over a loan move from Portsmouth after tests revealed a groin problem.

Ben-Haim, 28, would have to prove his fitness before being offered a permanent move.

West Ham are also keen to run the rule over another player who has had fitness problems, Argentine striker Milton Caraglio.

The 21-year-old suffered a knee injury last season which kept him out of Diego Maradona's squad for the World Cup Finals.

He is now reported to be fit and will join up with West Ham in order for them to assess his fitness. A provisional £5million deal is already in place with his club, Rosario Central.

West Ham manager Avram Grant, meanwhile, is still on the lookout for another right-back before the start of the season.

Julien Faubert played at right-back last season but Grant moved the Frenchman to his original position in midfield on the club's two-match tour of Germany, preferring England Under-21 player James Tomkins on the right-side of the back four.

West Ham remain keen on Nice striker Loic Remy but may need to cash in on £10m-rated Carlton Cole to help fund the £13m deal.
