Arsenal youngster Hector Bellerin was handed his first competitive start in the club's Champions League Group D opener against Borussia Dortmund.

The 19-year-old had only previously made a substitute appearance in the Capital One Cup last season for the Gunners, but was hurled in at the deep end after Mathieu Debuchy was ruled out and Arsene Wenger cautiously left Calum Chambers - who is suffering with tonsillitis - on the bench.

Elsewhere, Kieran Gibbs came in for Nacho Monreal after returning to full fitness following injury and Mikel Arteta replaces Mathieu Flamini as the defensive screen.

Borussia Dortmund XI: Weidenfeller, Schmelzer, Subotic, Papastathopoulos, Durm, Kehl, Bender, Grosskreutz, Mkhitaryan, Immobile, Aubameyang.

Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Bellerin, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Gibbs, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Alexis, Ozil, Welbeck
