Bournemouth could try and sign Jack Wilshere from Arsenal permanently next summer, according to the club's chairman Jeff Mostyn.

The Cherries sealed a season-long loan move for Wilshere in August, with Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger preferring the injury-hit midfielder to get regular playing time away from the Emirates Stadium this term.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has integrated the 24-year-old into his team slowly, but did hand Wilshere his first league start for his new side in the club's 1-0 win over Everton at the weekend, a game in which he impressed in.

And Bournemouth chairman Mostyn has admitted the club could turn Wilshere's loan move into a permanent one next summer, although the main focus for the Cherries remains making him a regular for the side this season.

When asked about Wilshere joining Bournemouth, Mostyn said at Soccerex Global Convention in Manchester: "I think anything is possible.

"The best we can do is integrate Jack into the team and help him fulfil what he wants.

"Whether or not we will go beyond a season, I think everything is possible.

"You have to be realistic and Jack may well consider his home to be back at Arsenal.

"If that was the case then we couldn't disagree with his decision - and the decision will be his.

"But if there is a possibility and Eddie Howe decides that he's somebody he wants to keep it will be up to him."

He added: "He will have to persuade [owner] Maxim Demin to unload a huge treasure chest in order to keep him.

"That would be the $64m question - it may even be the £64m transfer fee!"
