Brad Jones is trained to handle Samuel Eto'o danger

Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Jones is not worried about facing Samuel Eto’o tonight because he is so used to trying to stop Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard scoring in training.

The Australian will again deputise for Jose Reina, who has a hamstring injury, when the Reds host Group A leaders Anzhi Makhachkala in the Europa League.

Bankrolled by billionaire Suleyman Kerimov, the Russian side have recruited a host of star players, including former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker Eto’o.

However, Jones does not feel intimidated even though he has only made a handful of first-team appearances for Liverpool.

“For me, playing against whoever, it doesn’t particularly bother me which player it is — it is the same idea when you go out, which is that you don’t want to concede goals,” Jones said.

“Obviously, Eto’o is a fantastic player and has been for a number of years, playing at the top.

“You know you will have to be on top of your game but I have to do that every day with the likes of Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard anyway. It is just about making sure you concentrate and do the right things.”

Liverpool are unsure whether Reina will be fit for Sunday’s clash with Everton at Goodison Park.

Despite the derby, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is set to play a strong team tonight — including Suarez and Gerrard — as the Reds are third in group following their 3-2 loss to Udinese three weeks ago.
