Premier League newcomers Brentford have no plans to overhaul their squad this summer as they prepare to embark on life in the top flight for the first time in 74 years.
Promotion is worth £178million to Brentford, but they are confident their current squad is already good enough compete in the Premier League next season.
Their data-led philosophy has helped the Bees master the transfer market and manager Thomas Frank (left) says they will not stray from their model.
“In many ways the squad is strong enough,” said Frank. “Like all clubs, there will be some transfer activity. We will have meetings about it and plan it, have a clear strategy, be aligned, and maybe there will be a few added. But it will not be much, definitely not. We think we have a strong squad that can compete in the Premier League.”
Frank is also confident that star striker Ivan Toney will continue to score goals in the Premier League next season.
Toney broke the record for the most Championship goals in a season by scoring 31 times following his summer move from Peterborough.
He scored in the semi-final win over Bournemouth, then bagged his 33rd of the season at Wembley, and Frank said: “I have no doubt he will perform and do well in the Premier League.
“Like a lot of players in the team, he has got all the qualities to play there. I am looking forward to his development and the development of the whole team.”
