Fans yearning for a football fix during the current coronavirus shutdown will now be able to revisit some of the most memorable moments from the Champions League and Europa League on TV, starting tonight.

Along with most domestic leagues and tournaments across the globe, the 2019-20 editions of both major European club competitions - each in the middle of the last-16 phase - are currently suspended due to the outbreak of Covid-19.

On Tuesday, BT Sport - which retains exclusive broadcasting rights to the Champions League and Europa League in the UK - is introducing a new series called Throwbacks, which will take a look at the best of last year's knockout-stage action involving British clubs.

The programme will be presented live and remain on BT Sport 2 for five weeks, broadcast three nights in a row on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, with pundits such as Rio Ferdinand and Robbie Savage providing their thoughts.

The first leg of April's extraordinary Champions League quarter-final tie between Tottenham and Manchester City is first up on Tuesday, followed by Manchester United vs Barcelona on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Arsenal's Europa League last-eight first-leg victory over Napoli takes centre stage.

On top of that, BT Sport 3 will also be showing weekly highlights of Champions League finals from the past 20 years featuring British clubs, starting this week with the 'Miracle of Istanbul' in 2005 when Liverpool so memorably overturned a 3-0 half-time deficit to beat AC Milan on penalties.

United's famous last-gasp 1999 victory over Bayern Munich at Camp Nou comes next, before Chelsea's 2012 shootout victory over the Bavarians and their 2008 Moscow defeat to Sir Alex Ferguson's Red Devils.
