Brendan Rodgers has revealed Celtic plan to offer Craig Gordon a new deal after knocking back a £3million bid from Chelsea for the goalkeeper.

The Blues are in the market for a new back-up to Thibaut Courtois with Asmir Begovic keen to move to Bournemouth.

The Cherries have lodged a £10mllion bid for Begovic, but Chelsea will only let him go if they can find a replacement and have already been turned down by Spain international Diego Lopez.

Gordon is another target on Antonio Conte's list, but Rodgers has previously insisted the Premier League champions-elect are wasting their time pursuing the Scotland international.

Gordon is believed to be tempted by a move to Stamford Bridge but Celtic now plan to offer Gordon new terms to ward off the Blues.

"Yea, [Gordon] is very much a part of what we're trying to do here," Rodgers told Sky Sports after Celtic's 4-0 win over Hearts on Sunday.

"There's no way I can replace a player of his quality and how he's developed over the last six months has been fantastic.

"I really wan him here, get him to a new deal and then we can keep continuing and move the whole club forward."
