Barcelona’s stunning comeback against Paris Saint-Germain was bigger than Leicester City winning the Premier League title, on Twitter at least.

Over 6.1m tweets were sent during the match as Luis Enrique’s side pulled off what has been heralded as ‘the impossible’ by the Spanish press.

Trailing 4-0 from the first leg, Barca took a three-goal lead in the Camp Nou before Edinson Cavani’s strike had looked to spoil the party.

But three goals in the final seven minutes – with Sergi Roberto scoring the winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time – saw Luis Enrique’s side progress to the quarter-finals.

Enrique said that ‘no kid in Barcelona’ would forget their memorable night, which has become the most-tweeted-about match of the 2016-17 season so far – producing over 9m tweets on aggregate over the two legs.
