Uefa have opened disciplinary proceedings against Roma after monkey chants were heard during the 3-3 draw with Chelsea on Wednesday.

European football's governing body on Friday charged the Italian club with racist behaviour after monkey chants are believed to have been directed toward former Roma defender Antonio Rudiger at Stamford Bridge.

Rudiger, who came on as a 77th-minute substitute in the Champions League Group C game on Wednesday, left Roma for Chelsea in the summer.

Following the incident, Uefa have confirmed that they will investigate a charge of racist behaviour in a Control, Ethics and Disciplinary hearing on 16 November.

Chelsea had led their Champions League clash against Roma 2-0 before a brace from Edin Dzeko and a goal from Aleksandar Kolarov turned the game on its head.

But Eden Hazard's 75th-minute header ensured Chelsea secured a point that keeps them top of their Champions League group ahead of the reverse fixture in Rome in a fortnight.
