Hope for Pellegrini

Beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is a huge result for West Ham that eases the pressure on Manuel Pellegrini.

The Chilean was fighting to save his job but winning at Chelsea will end questions about his future for now. It was the first time West Ham have tasted victory in 70 days and ends a run of seven games without a win.

Pellegrini has taken some stick in recent weeks but he deserves credit for West Ham’s display at Stamford Bridge. Pellegrini made four changes, started Michail Antonio up front and the Hammers looked a different team.

They showed some fight and showed they are still playing for their manager. Pellegrini will hope this result is the turning point in their season.

Martin's debut to remember

Every West Ham player rushed over to David Martin on the final whistle after a dream Premier League debut for the goalkeeper. Manuel Pellegrini finally dropped calamity goalkeeper Roberto and Martin did not let him down on his first West Ham start.

The 31-year-old, who is the son of West Ham legend Alvin Martin, had a brilliant afternoon and kept a clear sheet as the Hammers came away with their first win at Chelsea in 17 years.

Roberto has endured a torrid time since coming in for the injured Lukasz Fabianski in September but Martin looked solid and made serval saves in the first half. He did not look out of place at all and looks like he could be a safe pair of hands until Fabianski is back.

Antonio stars on return

How West Ham have missed Michail Antonio. Losing Antonio for three months was a major blow and they looked a different side aghast Chelsea with his pace and power back in the team.

Antonio started up front in place of Sebastien Haller and gave the Hammers a threat they have been badly missing in recent weeks.

He put himself about, gave the Chelsea defence something to worry about and was as focal point to their attack. His return could be the spark West Ham need to start turning things around.
